This ballet version of Cervantes' Don Quixote story is staged by choreographer Alicia Alonso, who founded the company in 1948 and is still at the helm at age 96! She puts the love story between the Don and Dulcinea front and center, elevated by Ludwig Minkus’ acclaimed score performed live by the Chicago Philharmonic. The ballet also artfully combines elements of Spanish folk-dance with the athletic and graceful classical technique that the Ballet Nacional de Cuba is known for. The last time the Cubans came to Chicago was 15 years ago, so don't miss this all too rare display of passion and artistry!
Edward Kelsey Moore will be performing among his Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra colleagues.
