This coming Sunday, April 9th, 2017, Edward Kelsey Moore (and cello) will be among his Chicago Philharmonic colleagues for their final concert of this season called Paths of Passion, which explores the diversity of love in all its forms. Antonin Dvorak’s Romance evokes sweet moments of bliss in its glorious harmonies. Franz Waxman’s violin showpiece, the Carmen Fantasy, is bursting with technical fireworks which veer from passion to celebration to brutal revenge. Guest conductor Gerhardt Zimmermann will present his masterful interpretation of Dvorak’s vibrant New World Symphony, as well as his own orchestral transcription of Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7, with its poignant depictions of love and loss.
