The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago will present the U.S. Premiere of Krzysztof Pastor's Romeo and Juliet, musical score by Serge Prokofiev, performed by The Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra (including Edward Kelsey Moore). In this compelling ballet, Shakespeare’s classic tale is set in Italy against a striking multimedia backdrop which depicts three different political eras of the 20th century. Throughout each time period, the timeless tale of love and loss unfolds to Prokofiev’s formidably dramatic score. Bravura dancing, touching lyricism and epic storytelling unite in this rendering of ill-fated true love. Opening Night for Romeo & Juliet is Wednesday, April 30th with weekend performances May 2nd through May 11th.
