On Saturday, March 21st in Naperville, Illinois, and again on Monday, March 23rd at Symphony Center in Chicago, Edward Kelsey Moore and his cello will be performing with his orchestra colleagues the Chicago Sinfonietta in the concert: Primal Instincts. Gluttony, lust, passion, grief—be ready to have your most primitive impulses triggered by the first notes of the orchestral suite from the tragic opera Carmen, by Georges Bizet. Things get even hotter with a new tango-jazz inspired work featuring incendiary Galician bagpiper Cristina Pato. (U.S. Premiere!) And to close, the orchestra will perform one of the most powerful musical works ever written, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, inspired by medieval texts about the fickleness of fate. Forceful orchestral playing, soloists, chorus and youth chorus, Primal Instincts has it all, and during Carmina Burana has it all -- all at once!
