![]() Inspired by Valentine’s Day, the Chicago Philharmonic explores the astonishing lengths that lovers will go to for each other. Beethoven’s Leonore Overture is named for the ultimate faithful spouse who risks everything to free her wrongly imprisoned husband. In Gluck’s “Dance of the Blessed Spirits,” Orpheus literally goes to Hell and back for his beloved. Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony lives in the sweet embrace between an endlessly reverent pilgrims’ processional and the wild abandon of the final tarantella. Trumpeters Bill Denton and Robert Sullivan put great faith in their technique – and each other – in a pairing of two virtuosic horn concertos. From Vivaldi to Plog, these pieces are full of exhilarating exchanges that push the trumpet to its limits! Edward Kelsey Moore and his cello will be among the musicians of the Chicago Philharmonic in this concert. ~ Program ~ Beethoven ~ Leonore Overture No. 3 Gluck ~ “Dance of the Blessed Spirits” from Orfeo and Euridice Vivaldi ~ Two Trumpet Concerto Plog ~ Two Trumpet Concerto Mendelssohn ~ Symphony No. 4 (Italian) Chicago Philharmonic ~ Daring Duos Conductor ~ Scott Speck Sunday, February 12, 2017 ~ 3:00pm North Shore Center for the Performing Arts 9501 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, IL For more info & tickets...

![]() Edward Kelsey Moore and his cello will be among the musicians of the Chicago Sinfonietta for three concerts next weekend celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King dared us to dream of a brighter future for all people. He understood that his work would be arduous, sometimes dangerous, and take generations to effect real change. He envisioned us walking toward that future... hand in hand, side by side. The concert will pay homage to Dr. King’s vision by performing the works of Vaughan Williams, Vivaldi, and Beethoven in true “side by side” fashion featuring young musicians from many places in the Chicago area performing with the orchestra. Sinfonietta will stage an intergenerational dedication to those that came before us and rally behind those who continue to do Dr. King’s work -- to make equality and freedom a reality for all. The performances will culminate with Beethoven's Ode to Joy. More than just a concert – this will be a transformational and uplifting event! Chicago Sinfonietta with Guest Artists: E'mon Lauren, Chicago Youth Poet Laureate. Vocal soloists, plus the Roosevelt University Conservatory Choirs and the Alumni Chorus. Violin Soloists from the Civic Orchestra, and young musicians from the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, the People’s Music School and Merit School of Music.
