![]() As the Midwest weather shifts to colder and wetter, authors Edward Kelsey Moore and Melanie Benjamin, co-hosts of the podcast Who The Hell Are We? (WTHAW), discuss gathering around the fire for Storytelling, also an episode entirely about the famous and controversial Gone With The Wind, and the heartwarming topic of iconic Houses which figure prominently in books and other entertainment media. Snuggle up and listen in on Edward and Melanie... whenever you want! The most recent episode of the WTHAW podcast is titled: Houses in Literature, Movies, and TV, and features the authors talking about their ideal dream houses (who would expect that Ed wants to live in the Addams Family mansion?) and memorable houses from several favorite books. Melanie and Ed have a good laugh over looking at “real estate porn” and later they speculate on why people who are happily settled still imagine themselves living someplace else… Along with a charming story or two about their own experiences with houses and real estate. Other recent podcast episodes were: Storytelling, and We Need To Talk About "Gone With The Wind". In the first of these Edward and Mel explore their own process as writers with storytelling, and how a book can sometimes lose its narrative momentum. A couple of books are mentioned that have unusual storytelling structures — and some novels, like Gone With The Wind and To Kill a Mockingbird, which involve major social issues (like racism). The storytelling topic was an inspiration to our authors, they followed it with a separate Gone With The Wind episode to discuss that book and film at length. ![]() Bestselling author Edward Kelsey Moore will be one of several speakers who will say a few words at a special reception at the Artsgarden in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana this Monday, October 21, 2019, between 4pm and 6pm. The event is called Write Now: A Celebration of Indiana Literature. A few years back Edward was a finalist for an Indiana Authors Award which opened new opportunities for him to present public readings of his work and meet, talk with and inspire readers in many cities and towns across Indiana. Recently the entire Indiana Authors Awards program became a part of Indiana Humanities, which will greatly expand the availability of state-wide programs to put Indiana authors and readers together and also lead to wider visibility of local authors both within and beyond the State of Indiana. The Write Now celebration will be the inaugural event of this new collaboration — where more details about the expanded Indiana Authors Awards program will be revealed. The reception will also feature a pop-up bookstore from Indy Reads Books and Hoosier poets will be available to write poetry on demand for attendees who submit a topic. Light refreshments and beverages, or your choice of a signature cocktail or local Sun King beer will be served. Thanks to Indiana Humanities this event is FREE and open to the public, but space is limited, so registration is necessary. |
