![]() This Sunday the windy city of Chicago will welcome the Marcus Roberts Trio and our own Chicago Philharmonic to the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park for a festive and jazzy concert called, Holidays! Coleridge-Taylor’s settings of classic carols and Tchaikovsky’s traditional and elegant Christmas waltz lead into a Nutcracker with a difference — Duke Ellington’s 1960 jazz interpretations of Tchaikovsky’s beloved score will have the whole family dancing in the aisles! Then the “fearless” (Chicago Tribune) Marcus Robert’s Trio will bring their unique classical, jazz, and witty improvisations to Gershwin’s Concerto in F, the beloved ode to “the young enthusiastic spirit of American life.” Young, and young-at-heart, will revel in the holiday spirit! Edward Kelsey Moore will perform with his Philharmonic colleagues in this concert. Program: Samuel Coleridge-Taylor ~ Christmas Overture Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, arr. A. Gauk ~ December from The Seasons Duke Ellington/ Billy Strayhorn ~ The Nutcracker Suite George Gershwin ~ Concerto in F Chicago Philharmonic ~ Marcus Roberts Trio ~ Holidays! Sunday, December 8, 2019 @ 3:00pm Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Millennium Park 205 East Randolph ~ Chicago, Illinois |
